What Do You Want?

Today, I want to talk about something we have gone over but not in enough detail.

What’s that?

The basics. The stuff that you absolutely have to know to run your business.

I’m talking about from A-Z like…

Knowing the ways to make-money online and picking one of them.
Knowing how to plan out your business.
Knowing the technical stuff like using autoresponders, building simple sites, and the like.

From the information I’ve got from many of you, you’re running around clueless.

So I’m thinking the first workshop will explain….

1. The three main ways to make money online.
2. How to pick one and plan it out. (If you fail to plan you plan to fail!)
3. Picking domain names (Yes you will always need more than one, and you will use them for different things.)
4. How to do keyword research
5. How to build a squeeze page.
6. How to build a minisite.
7. How to build a content site.
8. How to install a blog and what to use it for.
9. How to use an autoresponder
10. How to keep focused on your plan.

From there I will then branch out with more advanced stuff, but I think these are the basics. I bet 97% of you don’t know these 10 things, and I see them as the top 10 things you must know to setup a business.

Of course as I said there are many other things, but these are the first 10 things you must know.

So before I go forward with putting a bunch of time in this, I’d like to ask you what you think, and if I should add anything to this. Or is there anything else you would like to learn?

I just bought LizTomeyWorkshops.com (nothing there yet), so if you want me to carry out this idea, and really learn, then leave any comments you have here on the blog!

Okay, that’s it for today!

To your success!

It’s a good idea to get the chance for many staff like me get the ways to make-money online!

I hope it will be interesing!

  2. YES, THIS IS WHAT I HAVE NEEDED FOR AGES.
NOBODY HAS EVER WANTED TO DO THIS BEFORE.

I HAVE TOLD PEOPLE(GURUS) ONLINE, IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A TON OF CASH, TEACH THE BASICS OF SITE BUILDING.

I HOPE YOU DECIDE TO DO IT.
I HOPE YOU GET ENOUGH RESPONSE.

THERE ARE CRAPLOADS OF NEWBIES WHO NEED TO LEARN THIS.
    YOU CAN’T OUTSOURCE EVERYTHING.

    I MEAN THINK ABOUT IT.
THERE ARE A MILLION DIFFERENT REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS STUFF.

IF YOU ONLY NEED TO GO IN AND CHANGE SOMETHING SMALL ON YOUR SITE, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO CALL AND PAY A WEBMASTER TO DO SOMETHING THAT TAKES 5 MINUTES BUT COSTS YOU A BUNCH OF MONEY.
    YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF.
COME ON PEOPLE THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE TO LEARN.
LETS GET ENOUGH INTEREST SO LIZ WILL TEACH US.

WE WILL NEVER HAVE TO PAY HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO GET A GEEK TO WORK ON OUR SITE FOR 2 MINUTES.

IF WE LEARN THIS WE CAN DO ANYTHING.

IF WE COME UP WITH A KILLER IDEA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, WE CAN JUST BUILD THE SITE AND NOT WORRY ABOUT CALLING SOMEONE.

I HOPE EVERYONE SEES THE VALUE IN LEARNING THIS.
JUST THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN DO ANY TIME YOU GET AN IDEA OR FIND A KILLER PLUGIN, ETC.

I KNOW I WANT TO LEARN ALL OF THE TECH STUFF MYSELF.

I HOPE THIS HELPS SOME PEOPLE TO REALIZE THEY NEED THIS LIZ.

HOW MANY WOULD YOU HAVE TO HAVE TO TEACH THIS?

THIS IS SO COOL. I HOPE YOU START SOON!!
I AM ANXIOUS AS CAN BE.

  3. Those are 10 excellent discussion points worthy of teaching us how to get on-line & I look forward to hear more. Can you tell me it this will be a physically-attend kind of workshop or possibly a webinar type of workshop. Thanks.

  4. Hi Liz,

The real trouble with “poor newbies” is very simple and overlooked by almost everyone.

    Where to start.

Each one of us has unique experience and passion and talent and knowledge and until we back up to that fact we will usually end up frustarted and confused.

The problem you face as an experienced Internet Marketer is connecting to us at a level that we understand from where we are individually.

That’s a huge difficult and frustrating job for you to have to deal with.

Until someone creates a valid accessment tool to hep people enter where they are, few will take the right action to succeed.

I’m working on a solution to just that, and I’ll keep you posted.

    Take care Liz.

  5. Dear Liz,

I think your list of 10 items for Newbies is excellent.

I have been trying to make money online since 2002. So far ZILCH has been made, but $1000’s has been spent on Programs.
We initially need guiding by the hand’ to know how to do the basic stuff.
Then eventually we can find our own Products and move forwards.
    Kind Regards from UK

  6. Hello Liz - a soft sell in the e mail - well done and I am a bit sick of the Traffic Fusion e mails - most newbies have to watch the big boys buying new stuff while most of a newbie budget goes on paying monthly fees and advertising - mostly just to stand still! One of the things that was holding me back was how to add links to a URL - for example http://perfectwealthqueen.net/pdf
or /training etc…. I now use NvU, but still see all kinds of links coming through that I am not sure most people would be able to do. Also how to organise those links so that prospects can quickly get something from you like a special offer. The organisational aspect of the business, traffic, surfing, ppc etc is pretty overpowering.
Good luck with your new venture.

  7. Hi, Liz,

I see you have keyword research in your list but one of the things I find so frustrating about all that I have bought to study the subject is that nobody tries to explain HOW TO RESEARCH.

Sure, I have lots of information about what to do with the keywords once I have them - BUT HOW DO I FIND THEM?

As you are well aware, there is a plethora of software out there that is supposed to make this process simple but, no matter what I try, there aren’t enough hours in the day to do all that appears to be necessary to create a viable list.

Once I have a list of keywords, I am again confused by the unexplained creation of ad groups and campaigns. All that I have read assumes that I know what each of these is and how to set them up and use them without committing myself to a $000s daily budget. The reality is, I’m new at this and I don’t have a clue!

Adwords, for newbies, would seem to be the first place NOT to go - rather the emphasis might be better on SEO and keeping up with the way Google (particularly) keeps changing the rules. For example, five months ago my site had over 55,000 pages indexed - today it has only 4,140.

  8. Hi Liz

You have touched upon my problem in No 3 above but what I would like to find out more about is - How do you use your domain? - ie how does one organise the files/folders? Mine all seem muddled up and I cannot tell what is what so I am loath to add more.
I think this is a basic and I don’t understand it so there are perhaps more people in the same boat.

Will be interested to see what you finally come up with.

    Regards

    Norma

  9. Hi Liz,

I have been trying to get going online since April 2008 and if you visit my web site you will see just how far I’ve got. However I haven’t yet made any money online. You were one of the first online marketers to really impress me and I feature one of your free e-books prominently on my blog style website. In July I lost focus and I decided to take the summer off and enjoy myself but will now be getting back into it and I am confident that with your help through the above workshop I will be able to succeed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Fred

  10. Hi Liz,
I have been trying to sell MRR and PLR products since 2006, but have not yet reached anywhere.

I already have 2 websites but can not get them running. What I need is a mentor to help me step-by-step to get started - editing, putting up squeeze pages, using auto responders, uploading and marketing.

If you can please help me..

  11. Liz,

I’m no longer a newbie, but I know I spent many many many months and who knows how many hours trying to learn all 10 of the steps on your list when I first started.

I had to piece it all together little by little and the puzzle took months to complete. A workshop like you’re offering would have been a godsend when I first started.

There are way too many newbies out there who spend all their time and money trying to figure things out and what they really need is a “step-by-step system”.

Does your Step #10 include traffic generation?

I’m sure your response to this workshop will be great.

    Good luck,
    Jane

  12. It’s good to see a female presents in this arena, in what appears to be a predominantly male environment. All the Gurus that I have been inundated with are guys.
My site is internetmarketingtoolstoday.com (IMTT.us) isn’t up yet, I am learning Dreamweaver 2004 and there is a bit of a learning curve.
My site will cater to the NEWBEE, like me and take them from step one to having a producing site or system….sounds just like what you are doing : )

  13. Hi Liz,

Great idea to do this, because very often we are learning disparate pieces of the puzzle without the planning and methodolgy to put it all together effectively and profitably. At the risk of disrupting the balance of ten topics, may I suggest two others: listbuilding and traffic generation.

    Thanks,

    Ernie

  14. Dear Ms.Tomey:

Conclusion First: Yes, I like your idea and believe it could help people like me provided you offer an a la carte menu because some of the topics you mentioned either don’t apply or I can take them later.

And this means I would save time and cost.

First of all I would like to define what I believe a “Newbee” is: (notice I have changed the spelling of the word from Newbie to Newbee).

A Newbee is a person flitting from guru to guru and online task to task to get his/her IBO (Internet Business Opportunity) off the ground.

    Off the Ground=First Repeatable Sale

I know you know all this but please bear with me…….. I wonder whether you would consider a mix and match program that would be flexible to Newbees real situation. (At least it is our situation as I perceive it in that a Newbee has already taken some kind of action to attract internet honey)

For example, I have already decided to focus on Affiliate Product Marketing exclusively until I hit a target monthly sustainable sales volume of USD 2, 000.

I have a host, I have AWeber, I have Word Press, I have a PLR product base.
I have listened closely to 18 gurus.

My problem is: I don’t know how to Synchronize Cpanel, the blog, the products, Paypal, the scripts, so I can instantiate a range of landing pages opt-ins, Squeeze Pages and Thank you pages….. so that I can make a first sale and repeat that sales to achieve sufficient online sustainablity to enable me to “acolyte” to Joyner’s Integration Marketing or Deiss’s Continuity Membership or Shrefren or Frank Kernize join Walkerdom become a Butterfly or Tell the MAN………ad nauseum.

Good luck anyway, I enjoyed your free videos.

  15. I am a residential home builder, with 6 houses in the market that I can’t sell. Real Estate, for the forseeable future is about as worthless as the good old dollar bill. I’m wondering what I’m going to do - 60 years old and no retirement - if I don’t learn how to make a decent living online? I assume - since I can build houses - that I can build an online business - the question is how…? Simply put - count me in…!

  16. Hi Liz! I have been on your list for some time now, and this sounds real good to me. With out the basics you are just lost. I have went with many of your affiliates, and others. I have a lot of good training in place, and a lot of good usable products. But just can’t get it on what to do with them. I sure hope this will be something WE All can understand and work with.
    Thank You!!!
    Good Luck!
    Get-R-Dun!

  17. I think that this is a great idea! I am right in the middle of that learning curb right now and would appreciate a place to learn! I have all of the ideas that I need and am working on the implementation. There is the rub! I know what I need to do but am finding the HOW I need to do it is the problem. I can do keyword research and getting a domain name stuff but the real techie stuff of the first website and getting the links right and the squeeze page stuff etc. I have been writing down my stuff so that when I figure it out I can duplicate it, but it is getting from point a to point b that is the issue now. Keep up posted Liz it sounds like a real winner.

  18. Liz,

    You DA Girl!

This is right on. I believe a sound plan coupled with FOCUS is the way. Sounds like that’s the underlying issue here.

    I’m in.
