Well it’s been a while since I’ve had time to post and show you guys how I’m building my new business.

So, let’s first do a recap of what you’ve got to do to get to where I’m at (no matter what niche your in), and then I’ll tell you what I’ve currently got cooking…

First, I started a blog over at www.TomeyBingMarketing.com

Why? Because the best way to show that you’re an authority in your niche is to have a site you can fill with all of your knowledge. That’s exactly what I’m doing with this blog. Educating so that people can learn from me and see me as an authority in my niche.

You can do this in any niche that your in.

Frank Kern (who I follow very closely) made an awesome point in his Mass Control Monthly stuff.

Frank basically said that to become an authority in your niche you simply need to tell your readers (and when blogging you should write every post like you have 1,000,000 readers even if you currently don’t) something related to your niche and back it up with proof.

Example:

If you’re in the dog training niche, and you post that training your dog to sit using xyz is the easiest thing in the world. You could do a short video showing xyz as proof.

I did this on my sales letter at www.5DayCashMachine.com I have videos on that site showing a total newbie using my system and it working.

Frank also goes on to say that even if you’re not an expert in your niche you can know more about your niche than 95% of the people in it just be reading 3-4 books on your niche.

What is between your ears (meaning your brain and the knowledge it holds) is what makes you an expert.

I TOTALLY agree with Frank.

I have gone into several niches and dominated just by educating myself, and then taking that knowledge and educating others with it.

So I’m using the blog to become an authority in Internet marketing. Blogging is just one way, and I’ll be talking about other ways later on.

Now why do I want to be an authority in this niche?

So I can sell my products and products I’m an affiliate for.

Basically I spill everything I know, truly help people, and I sell products to help them even further to earn a living.

I showed you how I created my first two products.

Okay, you’re all caught up…

Now here’s what I’ve been doing….

1. Blogging like crazy of course
2. Driving traffic to my blog and my products by…
a. article marketing
b. viral marketing
c. list building (driving my lists to my products)
3. Recruiting affiliates to sell my products
4. Creating more products to sell to my existing customers
5. Adding more affiliate tools to my affiliate hub at www.TrainYourAffiliates.com
6. Getting more people on my list

Sounds like a lot of work doesn’t it? Well it is…

However, I’m laying the foundation. This is a brand new business I’m creating, and it’s already making me money.

Listen, I just sold off every product I owned. Yes, I still had my list, but I have literally started totally over.

New blog, new products, new affiliate program…

The only thing I have is my list, and that’s why I’m able to make money so quickly.

Point?

List building is important.

If you’re just getting started, get a blog, create a squeeze page, blog to drive traffic to that squeeze page, and do everything else you can to drive traffic to that squeeze page.

The money IS in your list!

Okay, so as I said, I am laying a foundation.

Once I get 5-10 products other there, my only job is driving traffic. If I set everything up correctly things will fall into autopilot mode, and I am left to just stick in more leads.

So here’s the formula as it stands….

Blog to become an authority
Create products to sell
Build a list to make money

There’s the keys.

Today, I want to talk about something we have gone over but not in enough detail.

What’s that?

The basics. The stuff that you absolutely have to know to run your business.

I’m talking about from A-Z like…

Knowing the ways to make-money online and picking one of them.
Knowing how to plan out your business.
Knowing the technical stuff like using autoresponders, building simple sites, and the like.

From the information I’ve got from many of you, you’re running around clueless.

So I’m thinking the first workshop will explain….

1. The three main ways to make money online.
2. How to pick one and plan it out. (If you fail to plan you plan to fail!)
3. Picking domain names (Yes you will always need more than one, and you will use them for different things.)
4. How to do keyword research
5. How to build a squeeze page.
6. How to build a minisite.
7. How to build a content site.
8. How to install a blog and what to use it for.
9. How to use an autoresponder
10. How to keep focused on your plan.

From there I will then branch out with more advanced stuff, but I think these are the basics. I bet 97% of you don’t know these 10 things, and I see them as the top 10 things you must know to setup a business.

Of course as I said there are many other things, but these are the first 10 things you must know.

So before I go forward with putting a bunch of time in this, I’d like to ask you what you think, and if I should add anything to this. Or is there anything else you would like to learn?

So today, I’m going to show you how I install a blog, get it looking the way I want it too, and how I know what to blog on.

Now before we get into the videos let me reiterate why I suggest starting with a blog…

1. The purpose of your blog is to show that you are an authority in your niche. You know what you’re talking about, and you can help people with the information you provide. The best resource in the whole world for becoming an expert in your niche or any niche you choose is “How To Become An Expert In Your Niche In 30 Days Or Less” at www.ThisKicksButt.com/30DayExpert

I have this ebook printed out in a binder because I read it so much. Yep, it’s that incredible.

By blogging you’ll learn how to teach to sell, and that’s how you get people to buy your products or products you are promoting as an affiliate.

2. Blogs are great for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes. You can link to other websites you are promoting with specific keywords. This is known as backlinking and the more backlinks your sites that you are promoting have the more power they have in the search engines.

The content on your blog is search engine food, and the more you post the more they will eat up. Think of every post you make as a sales agent for you. The more sales agents you have out there the more sales you can make.

Blogs also allow you to use several web 2.0 tactics like social bookmarking, rss submissions, and a ton more great tactics. We’ll be talking a lot more about web 2.0 so hold tight on that thought.

3. By having a blog you can basically make it into a central head quarters for your business. The job of www.TomeyBingMarketing.com will be like an education brochure of everything I have. My products and services, my affiliate program, and more.

That’s just three reasons and there are a ton more, but these are the most important things to me in promoting my new biz.

Now, I need to start adding content to my site. Remember I want to establish myself as an authority and promote my other sites. So I’ve got to do some keyword research to see what people are searching for. This will tell me exactly what to blog about to get people to my sites.

Great, I’ve got a blog all setup, have my keywords, and now it’s time to create content. Now not all of us are born writers. I am, but I also have limited time. So I can either write the content myself, or I can outsource it.

Blog posts are essentially articles, so this course can really help you out. Now if you don’t have time you can always outsource the content creation for your blog. Yesterday I made my first post talking about the new business model I was creating and got some awesome feedback. You can see that post at imtruth.com/im-truth-newsletter/the-new-biz-post-1

I got from a reader that was complaining that I could do this (meaning build a business from scratch) super easy because I already had all the skills, and a list, and on and on and on.

So today, I’m going to back up a step, and tell you what it takes to build a business, and then we’ll continue on with what I am doing….

So first off, I know Internet marketing inside and out. How? Years of buying every product I could get my hands on, reading and using those products, and putting what I learned into use.

You do have to invest. No money to invest? Then I suggest you read “Six Figure Freelancer”. ( www.ThisKicksButt.com/6FigureFreelancer ) For $37 it will show you how to make extra cash doing odd jobs for people who really need them.

Like for instance www.Guru.com It’s a freelance sites that allows people who need some kind of computer job done (web design, graphics, articles, and a crap load of other tasks) to post the job and then freelancers come and bid on those jobs.

It’s a great way to make extra money, and if you have no money to invest in your business, this is a great way to get started. I did it from the time I was 15 till I was 18. I built websites for people as a freelancer.

Great way to get some extra cash comin in.

Okay, so the first rule is you have to educate the crap out of yourself on everything about marketing and whatever your niche is. I kill two birds with one stone because my niche is marketing.

Okay, so there’s where I got all my knowledge. I’m no super genius, and I didn’t go to college for this stuff.

Next, I implemented what I learned.

I learned that I needed a list of subscribers. Now I have a list of buyers which is much better, but one thing at a time. By having a list I can send out emails whenever I want and make money.

No hype. Just a fact….

So your first step when building your business is to build a list. I personally don’t know of any all in one list building course. I plan on developing one very soon at www.ListBuildingNewbieVideos.com

Until then I recommend that you at least learn to get a squeeze page up. My friend Erik Stafford has an awesome product that will teach you to do that via easy to follow videos at www.ThisKicksButt.com/FasterWebmaster

Basically all list building is simply….

1. Building a nice looking squeeze page (Example: IMTruth.com)
2. Driving traffic to that page

You got to learn 1 and 2 to be able build a list. It’s that simple.
