The other day, a coaching client of mine and I were talking on the phone. Her name is Karla, and like many of you she has “pieces” of the puzzle here and there but just needs some help getting things rolling.
Karla has agreed to let me use her as a case study, so that everyone can learn from what I’m teaching here. Below you will find the on going help I’m giving Karla. I would love to have your feedback about this casestudy also. If you like this, I’ll do more in the future….
Here is the first email that Karla sent me….

Hi Liz,
It was great to talk to you last night. Here are my pieces—
sales letter; www.homesecurityandmore.com
download page; xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
web site; www.help-with-home-improvements.com
blog; www.doctoryourhome.com/myblog
squeeze page; www.doctoryourhome.com
So I guess I would need to prioritize things like posting blogs, adding to the website, article writing, generating a newsletter (since I have a newsletter sign-up on the site!),
I guess I’ll put a welcome message in my autoresponder today and start generating the newsletter when I get some sign-ups. At some point I thought I should do (maybe make - I mean ask - (lol) my husband to do it) a squidoo lens. It seems like a lot of juggling and that I am not focused enough on one thing—but I am thinking it might just be because a lot of things take extra time what with being a newbie and all!
My biggest goal, I would think, would be building a list. I am trying. I have been using adwords—$5/day—not much but at this point it would be very difficult to pay for more. I have posted only a couple articles to a couple of article directories and just joined a couple of home improvement forums that have a resource box. Not sure what else to do except keep trying to put out articles and such. I know I need traffic.
Oh, my product is supposed to be $97. I changed it to $67 for some reason a month or two ago but can’t remember why, maybe so I could say the price is going up after launch?
Also, should I give away products to my big list of 18 or a few of them in exchange for testimonials/feedback?
Plus I had ideas for bonuses, some during and some to stay or change after the launch.
This is probably enough info for now, if not let me know and I’ll produce some more!!
Thanks Liz, I’ll talk to you soon, Karla

I took her email and did a video reply to it… You can watch that video at www.tomeymarketing.com/coaching/karla1
After Karla looked at the video I sent her, she had a few more questions. Here is her second email….

Hi Liz,
Thanks for going over all that stuff—now I have my questions….and clarification for me!
Also I don’t mind at all if you use me for a case study—it would be great to be able to help some other people out, I’m sure I can’t be the only one starting from square one. It’s taken me almost a year to teach myself to get even this far!
To start with my squeeze page is the www.doctoryourhome.com page. I made it by following the simple instructions from Tellman Knudsen’s pre-launch videos and used a downloadable template provided by him and Shawn Casey. Before that I only had a hover-pop on my sales page www.homesecurityandmore.com Did you think the copy was ok on the squeeze page? It sounded to me like you would like me to add some graphics to it?—to make it look exciting and captivating? Should I also offer a newsletter sign-up? (Then I’ll have to make sure and create a newsletter!—I was thinking perhaps bi-weekly)
The www.homesecurityandmore.com page is the first one I created as a sales page for my product. It is a home improvement kit. It contains 3 e-books (actually 4 with the “Low Cost Home Improvement Guide” bonus), one on home security, one about decorating on a budget and a third about home organization. I also offered a free e-consultation with Al for the 1st I forget how many that buy the kit. And I can give them a free subscription to the newsletter (the one I will create!). If you saw nothing on the sales page it was because it was down briefly as I had to change the sub-domain name and let it re-populate. (I make the occasional (lol) “boo-boo” and have to re-do things now and then.) That took a little while.
Also I did check the home improvement stuff on Clickbank and saw the prices. I think I’d like to keep the price at $67 then as it is a kit rather than one e-book. Do you think I can provide enough value for that??? I’m sure I need to do a lot of tweaking on my sales page before I put it up on Clickbank.
The help-with-home-improvements.com is the content site. I plan on keeping adding to it, it is only just started and I am doing it with the Sitebuilder on Hostgator. I could get someone to do a much better job but I’d rather wait until there is a lot more content up!
The reason the name for the thank you page for the product is so long and has the help-with-home-improvements thing in it has to do with my boo-boo that made me have to change my subdomain name and I didn’t want to change the thank you page name and lose it somehow.
Do you want me to get the adsense ads off the blog? I can do that. The reason they are there is because the theme I picked had them on so then I made an adsense account so that they would be relevant to my site and so if someone clicks on them I would get credit for it. Maybe if I change my wordpress theme they will go away?
Should I be blogging about any kind of home improvement stuff I want? You said the whole point of the blog is to send them to the squeeze page and build a list. Is there a special way to do that or do I just put up a really big headline at the top saying “GO TO MY SQUEEZE PAGE AT………AND OPT IN!!!” (just kidding) or do I just reccomend the mini-course or newsletter in every post and tell them where to go to get it?
You know my list is up to 23 so I think I’m ready to launch now.
Not really. Should I send an offer to the list right now while it’s still small—and would I offer it (the kit) for free in exchange for the feedback/testimonials? Should I only offer it to 10 first, maybe the first 10 that signed up? I can also ask a “most burning question” about home improvements as well.
Well Liz I hope you have a great weekend. I think I covered most of my questions.
Take Care, Karla
