Over the next few weeks I will be finishing a lot of projects I was supposed to complete in 2008. Because of all I do, I am running a bit behind.

See, I’m just like you. Sometimes I can’t get everything done too.

Well it’s been a while since I’ve had time to post and show you guys how I’m building my new business.

So, let’s first do a recap of what you’ve got to do to get to where I’m at (no matter what niche your in), and then I’ll tell you what I’ve currently got cooking…

First, I started a blog over at www.TomeyBingMarketing.com

Why? Because the best way to show that you’re an authority in your niche is to have a site you can fill with all of your knowledge. That’s exactly what I’m doing with this blog. Educating so that people can learn from me and see me as an authority in my niche.

You can do this in any niche that your in.

Frank Kern (who I follow very closely) made an awesome point in his Mass Control Monthly stuff.

Frank basically said that to become an authority in your niche you simply need to tell your readers (and when blogging you should write every post like you have 1,000,000 readers even if you currently don’t) something related to your niche and back it up with proof.

Example:

If you’re in the dog training niche, and you post that training your dog to sit using xyz is the easiest thing in the world. You could do a short video showing xyz as proof.

I did this on my sales letter at www.5DayCashMachine.com I have videos on that site showing a total newbie using my system and it working.

Frank also goes on to say that even if you’re not an expert in your niche you can know more about your niche than 95% of the people in it just be reading 3-4 books on your niche.

What is between your ears (meaning your brain and the knowledge it holds) is what makes you an expert.

I TOTALLY agree with Frank.

I have gone into several niches and dominated just by educating myself, and then taking that knowledge and educating others with it.

So I’m using the blog to become an authority in Internet marketing. Blogging is just one way, and I’ll be talking about other ways later on.

Now why do I want to be an authority in this niche?

So I can sell my products and products I’m an affiliate for.

Basically I spill everything I know, truly help people, and I sell products to help them even further to earn a living.

I showed you how I created my first two products.

Okay, you’re all caught up…

Now here’s what I’ve been doing….

1. Blogging like crazy of course
2. Driving traffic to my blog and my products by…
a. article marketing
b. viral marketing
c. list building (driving my lists to my products)
3. Recruiting affiliates to sell my products
4. Creating more products to sell to my existing customers
5. Adding more affiliate tools to my affiliate hub at www.TrainYourAffiliates.com
6. Getting more people on my list

Sounds like a lot of work doesn’t it? Well it is…

However, I’m laying the foundation. This is a brand new business I’m creating, and it’s already making me money.

Listen, I just sold off every product I owned. Yes, I still had my list, but I have literally started totally over.

New blog, new products, new affiliate program…

The only thing I have is my list, and that’s why I’m able to make money so quickly.

Point?

List building is important.

If you’re just getting started, get a blog, create a squeeze page, blog to drive traffic to that squeeze page, and do everything else you can to drive traffic to that squeeze page.

The money IS in your list!

Okay, so as I said, I am laying a foundation.

Once I get 5-10 products other there, my only job is driving traffic. If I set everything up correctly things will fall into autopilot mode, and I am left to just stick in more leads.

So here’s the formula as it stands….

Blog to become an authority
Create products to sell
Build a list to make money

There’s the keys.

Devon’ Back Story

Devon is no newbie. She’s had some success selling on eBay in the “good ole days” (back when you could sell digital products on eBay), and currently has three niche sites. One of which is making her about $2000 a month.

Devon is looking to increase her income to the $5000 a month level and that’s what she’s hired me to help her with.

She wants to generate money in different ways from different sites. She however wants to do it without creating her own products and services. That leaves here with making money from Adsense like options, or affiliate marketing.

So today we got on the phone and went over her three niche sites.

Now I can’t give away her niches, so we will call them Niche A, Niche B, and Niche C.

Niche A is the site that is making her about $2000 a month. She’s using Adsense and InfoLinks.com (which is an In Text Advertising Service).

Niche B is a site that’s not doing much now. It just needs some traffic so we can see how much income it can make. She will also be using Adsense and InfoLinks.com

Niche C was a real chore. Now I can tell you that this is a site in the dog niche. She had several different things going on with this site.

She was trying to build a list
Trying to earn money from Adsense
Trying to earn money as an affiliate
Trying to earn money selling resell rights products related to this niche.
Trying to money via her own products related this this niche.

I went over everything she had and took “inventory”.

Having everything on this site was accompishing nothing. When you create a niche focused site, it should focus on one thing. Be it….

Creating an income with Adsense
Creating an income with Affiliate products
Creating an income via building a list and marketing to that list.

With Devon’s site, she didn’t have a great domain name. For all that she wanted it was too niche. So, we have decided to get a broader niche domain name, rebuild the site on it, and use the site to do nothing but build a list in this niche.

She will be using Aweber to build this list and loading that list’s autoresponder with messages selling affiliate products, her resell rights products, and her own products for that niche.

This is just one example of how you can successfully use a content site in marketing what you want to sell.

Devon now has a clear plan, and once we work together she will be well on her way to her $5000 a month income goal.

I hope you’ve learned a lot from what I’ve covered here.

Devon’s long term plan is to use me this month to get her sites in order, and get a traffic plan to create on going traffic to her sites. She’ll then take a month off from coaching with me, and then the following month come back to reevaluate what she has going, and add more income streams at that time.

She’s working smart by getting her already up and going sites making money/more money, and then will add income streams as she needs to.

I want to now talk about “affiliate hubs”. I’m going to give you a tour of mine, and then detail what it’s purpose is. Check out this video….

Okay, so let’s do a little recap of all 4 posts I’ve done detailing how I’m building the new biz…

I’ve started by creating a new blog that is going to act as the “headquarters” for my entire business. I highly recommend that everyone does this. Either get a YourCompany.com or YourName.com domain name, and get your blog setup.

I’ve gone into great detail here, about what I’m using my blog for, and why it’s important to have one.

In the second post I did, we talked about what what you need to know to get started building your own business.

I did this post because there seems to be a lot of mis-information out there about what you actually need to know, do, and buy. If you haven’t read that second post yet, it’s very important.

In the third post, I did a lot of videos to help you with implementing your own blog, so be sure to watch those.

And now the fourth post which you just read, I’ve started really bringing things full circle.

I have created my “headquarters” blog, added some products to my business, and created an affiliate hub.

You know all the why’s to everything, so I suggest, you sit down and create a plan for yourself to start building your own biz.

You need a blog
You need products
You need an affiliate program

Remember, just take deep breaths and one step at a time. There is a lot of upfront work, but when this is all laid out and done, you can enjoy working a few hours a day. Seriously…

We’ve still got a long way to go, and I will be adding much more to the “Biz Building Posts”, so stay tuned…

Today, I want to talk about something we have gone over but not in enough detail.

What’s that?

The basics. The stuff that you absolutely have to know to run your business.

I’m talking about from A-Z like…

Knowing the ways to make-money online and picking one of them.
Knowing how to plan out your business.
Knowing the technical stuff like using autoresponders, building simple sites, and the like.

From the information I’ve got from many of you, you’re running around clueless.

So I’m thinking the first workshop will explain….

1. The three main ways to make money online.
2. How to pick one and plan it out. (If you fail to plan you plan to fail!)
3. Picking domain names (Yes you will always need more than one, and you will use them for different things.)
4. How to do keyword research
5. How to build a squeeze page.
6. How to build a minisite.
7. How to build a content site.
8. How to install a blog and what to use it for.
9. How to use an autoresponder
10. How to keep focused on your plan.

From there I will then branch out with more advanced stuff, but I think these are the basics. I bet 97% of you don’t know these 10 things, and I see them as the top 10 things you must know to setup a business.

Of course as I said there are many other things, but these are the first 10 things you must know.

So before I go forward with putting a bunch of time in this, I’d like to ask you what you think, and if I should add anything to this. Or is there anything else you would like to learn?
